Overview

The Red Chokeberry is a deciduous edible shrub that will grow big and strong, maturing to 10' tall! These shrubs are famous for their attractive glossy red berries and bright red fall foliage. Those red berries are referred to as Superfruits because of their incredible health benefits.

In the spring, clusters of white to pink flowers emerge. Each flower is followed by a cluster of glossy red berries that hug the branches. In the fall, the eye-catching red foliage will leave you speechless. Fruits will ripen in the late summer and stay throughout the fall and well into the winter.

The Native Red Chokeberry provides nectar to native bees as it flowers in the spring, followed by prized red berries enjoyed by maby. This shrub attracts birds like sparrows, orioles, thrushes, Cedar Waxwings, Black-capped Chickadee, and Northern Mockingbirds. Bower & Branch is proud to grow Audubon® Native Plants for Birds in partnership with the National Audubon Society to help birds and other wildlife thrive.
