Arber Organic Plant Care: One Pint, 12,000 Square Feet

Sixteen ounces of liquid, and the label puts coverage at 12,000 square feet. That is the spec on all three Arber insecticide concentrates; the two fungicides and the 3-in-1 tomato and vegetable feed stretch to 16,000 square feet from a bottle the same size. A pint goes that far because none of it is applied at full strength — every 16 oz bottle ships with a hose-end sprayer that meters the dilution as you water. Sizes run from a 4 oz shaker of root granules to 3 lb fertilizer pouches, and every item is made in the USA.

Three Insecticides, Sorted by What You Grow

The split is by planting, not by pest. The vegetable garden bottle is aimed at tomatoes, peppers and squash, and covers aphids, thrips, mites, borers, whiteflies, fungus gnats, mealybugs and beetles. The roses and flowering plants version handles aphids, thrips, Japanese beetles, mealybugs, scale, mites and cutworms. The grass, trees and shrubs bottle goes after grubs, cutworms, armyworms, chinch bugs, Japanese beetles and leafhoppers — damage you find in the turf, not on the leaves. Arber puts those last two formulas at over 30 pests each and calls both odor-free. All three are built on beneficial bacteria with certified organic ingredients and no harsh synthetic chemicals, and all three are described as safe around kids, pets and bees when used as directed.

Disease Control, and a Feed That Does Three Jobs

Both fungicides work through a strain of Bacillus and leave no harmful residue on what you spray. The one for roses and flowering plants answers powdery mildew, black spot, rust, blight, leaf spot and gray mold; the one for grass, trees and shrubs takes on brown patch, summer patch, dollar spot, rust, anthracnose and fusarium. Each treats up to 16,000 square feet, a third more ground than the same-size insecticide bottle.

The Organic Tomato, Fruit & Vegetable Fertilizer is the odd one, because calling it a fertilizer undersells it. Arber describes a 3-in-1: increase harvest, boost immunity through a biological plant extract, and control disease — blight, anthracnose, botrytis, powdery and downy mildew, black spot on roses. Same 16 oz bottle, same hose-end sprayer, same 16,000 square feet.

Granular Blends, Root Boost, and Two Things You Never Spray

Organic All Purpose Fertilizer: 3-2-1 NPK, 3 lbs (1.36 kg), for flowers, shrubs, houseplants, annuals and perennials.

Organic Fruit & Vegetable Plant Food: the 4-3-2 blend, also 3 lbs, made with compost, chicken manure and rock phosphate, best on tomatoes, peppers, carrots, lettuce and herbs.

Both are built around biochar, which holds excess nutrients and slow-feeds them back, so a monthly scattering does something for the soil as well as the plant. Organic Soil & Root Boost, 4 oz of granules, is the one you shake straight onto a root ball at transplanting — mycorrhizae, Bacillus and beneficial microbes, safe around kids, pets and pollinators.

The Waterproof Gardening & Repotting Mat measures 30" x 30" laid flat, then snaps up at the corners into a 22" x 22" tray with 4" walls that keeps soil off the table. It folds away, wipes clean and ships with a free Soil & Root Food sample. Fresh Cut Flower Food is a 4 fl oz (118 mL) bottle: one capful per two cups of vase water, for blooms that hold up to twice as long.

OMRI Listings and Shelf Life

An OMRI listing is stated on the three insecticides, the two fungicides, the 3-in-1 liquid feed, both granular blends and the Soil & Root Boost. Shelf life runs long — three years on the six 16 oz concentrates and the Soil & Root Boost, two years on the granular blends and the flower food, kept cool, dry and out of direct sun. Once a concentrate is mixed with water, use it the same day.
