Use an Oya watering spike for effortless indoor and outdoor watering of potted plants. Just fill your Oya with water as needed and the rest is taken care of. Plant roots instinctively grow toward the porous clay of the Oya which allows them to take exactly the water they need when they need it. The result is less water, easier growing and a more successful garden. Each Oya comes with a custom-fit silicone lid.

The Oya Watering Spike can be easily added in your existing plant pots. Featuring a high-capacity, 16oz watering reservoir, these spikes are ideal for pots 8” or larger. Just insert and refill when needed. Perfect for indoor plant lovers who want more greenery and a beautiful looking space.

To add a watering spike to your pots, remove a handful of soil and push the the Oya Watering Spike straight down or at a slight angle (whatever fits best) into the pot until 2/3 of the spike is buried.

Features & Benefits:

  • Ideal watering solution for house plants, potted plants and hanging baskets
  • High-capacity 16oz watering reservoir
  • Measures 7.5" tall x 4" wide and covers a 18" diameter of roots
  • Roots will naturally grow towards the Oya, taking what they need
  • Add an Oya to your potted plants at any time during the growing season
  • Silicone lid decreases evaporation and ensures nothing drops into the reservoir
  • Watering Spikes extend your plants water supply by up to 7 days in addition to the time your plants generally get watered

When To Refill:

Follow any watering instructions on the original plant tag initially after installing. After 1-2 weeks, you can assess the soil 2" deep and:

  • If your plant doesn’t like a lot of water and the soil is cool, WAIT until the soil is dry to refill your Spike once it’s empty
  • If your plant likes water and the soil is cool, refill your Spike and continue to surface water as well
  • We do not recommend watering spikes for succulents, cacti, and other plants with low watering needs

Care & Maintenance:

Some spikes will develop a white patina on the clay, and this is a mineral patina from your water. Every water source contains different mineral contents and that is passed through the spike. This is 100% natural and promotes natural mineral separation. Every spike will have a slightly unique look!

If using outdoors, we recommend removing the Oya watering pot at the end of the growing season to keep it in top shape. Remove plant growth and wash with 10 parts water and 1 part vinegar (a stiff brush can help), then let it air dry before storing.

If you live in a climate at risk of frost, remove it from the ground before the frost and bring it indoors. Due to the porous nature of the clay, the Oya can be susceptible to cracking or shattering in freezing temperatures.

We do not recommend putting fertilizers into your Oya. Most fertilizers are not 100% soluble, potentially clogging the porosity of the Oya. Instead, apply the fertilizer around where the Oya is buried so that the roots will have easy access to nutrients.
