Adding wool pellets into your soil or as mulch in your garden is a great way to increase your soil's water retention, helping you to conserve water and decrease the number of times you need to water your garden. 

Wool breaks down over time, enriching the soil with nitrogen, potassium and other essential nutrients. This process acts as a slow-release natural fertilizer that feeds as it fades, and is generally a 9-0-2 fertilizer.

General Application Rates:

• For potting mixes, add 1/2 cup of wool pellets to 4 cups of potting soil to improve moisture retention and consistency
• For potted plants or in-ground gardens, sprinkle pellets on top to cover the surface or gently mix into the soil
  
• Add 1 lb per 10-20 sq ft into the top 2-4" of vegetable beds
• Add 2-4 oz per plant if top-dressing around plants
• Add ½-1 cup in their planting hole for new trees and shrubs
• Add 5-10% by volume for seed starting mixes
• Can be applied 1-2 times a season, with benefits lasting 6-12 months

Please note, due to the nature of wool products, pellets may vary slightly in appearance, colour, or texture. The lifespan of your wool pellets will depend on your specific garden climate. Watering, humidity, rainfall, soil biology (worms + microbes) all play a role in how fast your wool will decompose.
