The Nest Planter is the elevated garden for those who would rather be harvesting than hauling watering cans or bending down to the ground. The Nest is a double-walled planter that sits on powder-coated steel legs at 36" tall, bringing herbs, salad greens, strawberries and compact vegetables up to a comfortable working height.

Inside is the patented TruDrop® self-watering system, a reservoir beneath the soil that wicks moisture up to the roots as plants need it, helping to conserve water and keep your soil hydrated. A gauge on the side tells you when to top up, and an overflow spout lets heavy rain drain away so roots never sit in soggy soil. Depending on the weather and what you're growing, a full reservoir can last up to 2–6 weeks — with reports of gardeners using up to 50% less water and fertilizer than a conventional planter.

The Nest planter is rotomolded from lightweight, food-safe, BPA-free resin that won't chip, crack or fade. With a 10 year warranty, elegant color options and clean textured lines, the Nest makes a beautiful addition to your deck and patio.

TruDrop Self-Watering Reservoir

How the TruDrop® System Works

  1. Plant & water from the top. Fill the Nest with a quality potting mix, plant, and water the soil well
    to start the wicking action.
  2. Fill the reservoir. From then on, add water through the fill hole with a hose or watering can until
    the gauge reads full.
  3. Roots drink as needed. Perforated inner walls wick moisture up evenly—no swings
    between soggy and bone-dry.
  4. Check the gauge every week. Top up when it drops. You can add liquid fertilizer to the reservoir to feed as you water.

Please note, we recommend using a quality, fluffy potting mix rather than garden soil, which compacts and slows the wicking action. Water the soil from the top after planting to get the system started. In freezing weather, open the main drain so no water sits in the reservoir and freezes. The resin is built to handle the elements year-round.
