Overview

The Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) is an ancient tree related to the coastal redwoods of California. Dawn redwoods were once thought to be extinct and known only as fossils until the 1940s when one was discovered growing in a rice field in a remote region of central China.

What makes the Dawn redwood truly special is that it is a deciduous coniferous tree. In the autumn, the light green foliage turns bronze and ultimately drops off, like leaves, as a normal part of growth. The Dawn Redwood makes a fast growing landscape tree or it will bonsai very well due to the speed with which it grows.

This Dawn Redwood Tree-to-Be is a great gift idea to commemorate any special event, such as a housewarming, a new baby or as a living memorial. An aluminum tag is provided for a personalized inscription to be placed on the tree.
