Fab Habitat Outdoor Rugs: the Big Sur Ombre, Balcony to Dining Table

A rug that has spent the summer on a deck comes up two colors the day you finally move it. The half that catches the afternoon sun has gone paler than the half that lives under the table. A June spill is still visible in September, because the thing is too heavy to drag onto the lawn and too dense to dry out if you did. After a wet week it smells like a basement. Fab Habitat outdoor rugs take those three problems in turn — fading, cleaning and damp — and the design on this page, the Big Sur Ombre, comes in six sizes and four colorways, from a 2.5-foot-wide runner for a balcony up to an 8' x 10' that will hold a dining table with the chairs pushed back from it.

Sun, weather and damp

The rug is crafted from premium recycled materials and, in Fab Habitat's words, expertly woven for long-lasting performance. The construction is weather-resistant: it offers resistance to weather, moisture and wear while maintaining its color and texture over time. On sun the claim is a measured one — UV-resistant to help maintain color vibrancy — which is a different proposition from an indoor rug pressed into outdoor service, though no dye is permanent under a full summer. It is also mold and mildew resistant, the property that decides whether a rug survives a rainy fortnight in a shaded corner. Fab Habitat has the rug GoodWeave certified for quality and ethical production, and it carries a 1-year limited warranty.

Reversible, and a garden hose is the whole cleaning kit

The design is reversible, which Fab Habitat puts in terms of extended usability — flip it when one side has taken a hard run of sun, or simply to freshen the surface under the table. Cleaning is genuinely short: shake off dirt and debris regularly, rinse with water, and let it air dry completely before it goes back down. No shampoo, no specialist cleaner. Store it somewhere dry when it is out of use for a long stretch. That routine stays realistic because the rug is lightweight and portable — one person can lift it to sweep underneath, roll it up for winter, or carry it indoors in October. It is pet-friendly and comfortable underfoot, which covers the two things that spend the most time on it.

The listing covers patios and decks, gardens and outdoor lounges, balconies and porches, poolside areas, cafés and commercial outdoor seating, and indoor rooms that want a calm accent.

Six sizes, four colorways, and how to pick

Sizes: 3' x 5', the 2.5' x 8' runner, 4' x 6', 5' x 8', 6' x 9' and 8' x 10'. Size is what moves the price in the grid above, not colorway — so settle the footprint first, the color second.

The colorways are Teal, Sunset, Ash and Green — a coastal-inspired ombré, soft tones blended into a gradient rather than one flat block of color. The runner is offered in Teal; the five other sizes come in all four.

Size by the furniture, not by the floor. A bistro set or a pair of lounge chairs sits well on the 3' x 5' or the 4' x 6'. A dining table needs the chairs to stay on the rug when they are pushed back, which in practice means the 6' x 9' or the 8' x 10'. Narrow balconies, covered walkways and galley-shaped decks are exactly what the 2.5' x 8' runner is for. One last thing worth knowing if you are buying two for a long deck: slight variations in pattern and color occur between rugs, and the maker counts that as part of each one's character.
