Because the bed wraps a corner, you can reach the inside of the L from two sides, so planting, weeding and harvesting are easier than reaching across a wide rectangular bed. Plant tall crops in the corner and shorter herbs and flowers along each arm.

Choose your width (2, 3 or 4 feet), length (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 or 12 feet) and height (11, 16.5 or 22 inches) to match your space. Because of the L-shape, not every combination is available - the size selector shows what can be built

Durable Cedar

Our raised garden planter with trellis is made from kiln-dried cedar. It is a fragrant wood with strong natural oils to protect against moisture and fungal decay. Cedar can be painted or stained, or left unfinished to gray naturally.

We offer Eco Wood Treatment as one option for a sealant. Eco Wood Treatment works by penetrating wood fibers of the raised bed with trellis to create a natural buffer against water and fungal decay. It increases wood's durability while creating an aged, silvery patina after just a few hours.

Set Up & Assembly

Three stages, each needing different effort.

Stage one, the bed. Level the ground, stack the boards and insert the stainless steel corner pins. No tools needed.

Stage two, the trim. The finishing trim pieces attach with included screws, and a power screwdriver is recommended.

Stage three, the trellis. Lay the cross pieces on a flat surface, glue the notches and apply pressure to form the grid. Attach the frame with the included screws, then fix the finished trellis to the bed along with the end braces.

Written instructions are included. Before you start, let the boards sit in a garage or shed for 3 to 5 days to acclimatize, which prevents cupping, warping and gapping later.

FAQ 

Why can't I select the size combination I want?

Because of the L-shape, not every width, length and height can be built together. If the combination you want is greyed out, it is not one we can make. Call 1-888-451-6752 and we will tell you the nearest size that works.

How tall is the trellis?

Every bed comes with the standard 48-inch cedar trellis along the back edge. Add the height of the bed you choose - 11, 16.5 or 22 inches - to get the overall height against your fence or wall.

Can I put it right against a fence or a wall?

Yes - corners are its home. Set the back of the L into the corner and garden from the two open sides; the one thing to plan for is the 48-inch trellis rising along the back, if your fence or wall is short.

Do I need tools to assemble it?

Not for the bed itself - the boards stack and lock with stainless steel corner pins. A power screwdriver is recommended for the trim pieces, and the trellis is glued and screwed together with the included hardware.

How much soil will I need?

Treat the L as two rectangles: run each arm through our Soil Calculator separately and add the results. Entering the full outside length and width as a single rectangle would order more soil than the L actually holds.
