Overview

The Jora JK125 Composter lets you make perfect compost from your household waste quickly and easily. It is a 'continuous-use' dual chamber composter, so you can start a new batch in one compartment while the first batch ages. Ideal for rapid composting of kitchen scraps and light garden waste. The Jora JK125 is suitable for smaller households with 1 to 4 people.

NOTE: The Jora JK125 comes with the longer legs as pictured in the first three images (left). The other three images and the videos below show the older model with shorter legs. All JK125's now come with the longer legs.

Features & Benefits:

  • 'Continuous-use' dual chamber composter
  • Durable galvanized steel construction
  • Holds 4.5 cubic feet (33 gallons) of compost
  • Operating capacity: 2 to 4 gallons per week
  • Easy to use - rotates easily for maximum aeration
  • Insulated - great for cool climates and all-weather composting
  • Fully-enclosed and pest resistant
  • Elevated rodent proof design
  • Reduces odors

*Please note, to ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Jora, we highly recommend keeping it undercover and protected from direct exposure to rain. While these tumblers are built to withstand the elements, prolonged exposure to moisture can accelerate the onset of rust and potentially shorten the lifespan of the unit. Storing your tumbler in a sheltered area, such as a covered patio or shed, will help maintain its integrity.

Dual Chambers

The JK125 is divided into two compartments, so one side can be filled while the other side's compost matures. Once the compartment being filled can take no more, the mature compost can be emptied from the other compartment, and the cycle begins again.

Insulation

Composting generates heat and the different microorganisms start working at different temperatures. The HDPE insulation in the JK125 composter allows the temperature to rise to 150° F for faster, more efficient processing of your organic waste. At these temperatures fresh waste starts to break down before it has a chance to rot and attract vermin and flies. With its superior insulation, the Jora composter will continue working through winter, long after other composters have stopped completely.

Rotation

  • Easy to rotate - simply turn by hand after adding waste
  • Fresh waste is brought into direct contact with decaying waste
  • Adds air to the mixture, providing oxygen vital for microbial activity

What can be composted?

  • Raw and cooked food scraps e.g. vegetables, fruit, eggshells, meat, fish, bread
  • Garden waste e.g. flower cuttings, leaves, weeds, grass clippings
  • Shredded paper and cardboard e.g. egg cartons
  • Light pet waste e.g. rabbit or hamster bedding

The JK125 Composter will accept organic household waste or anything biodegradable. After adding waste, it will take about 6 to 8 weeks for each chamber to produce compost. Once both chambers are in operation you should be emptying one chamber every 3 to 4 weeks.

Rodent Proof:

The Jora JK125 Composter is sited off the ground so there is no possibility of rodents or other pests gaining access to the waste in the composter.

Construction:

  • Exterior: galvanized steel panels, powder coated to last for years. The steel panels will withstand extreme freezing without developing cracks, and will hold up well to prolonged sun exposure without any deterioration of the finish.
  • Insulation: 2.16" HDPE polyethylene - a stable, non-toxic plastic
  • Galvanized steel stand
  • Stainless steel hardware

*Please note, assembly requires at least two people. Due to the nature of the insulation and steel panels, assembling your Jora can be difficult.

In wet climates, it is best to place the Jora composter under cover to avoid rain soaking the contents. This cover could be the overhang of a roof, adjacent to a building or shed, or even the cover of a tree.

    Fantastic, easy to use composter

This small unit was pretty easy to assemble (but definitely is helpful with two people), easy to add kitchen scraps to, and very easy to aerate. More importantly, it takes all of the yuck factor out of composting for a city girl who has just started container gardening on the deck. There was a brief period when I was greeted by some fruit flies, but adding torn up egg carton took care of that. After 6 weeks, it finally started to feel warm inside and is looking like a lot more dirt than the one pot I originally put in to get things started.

    Great customer service

This transaction was difficult, but not because of Earth Easy. FedEx screwed this up. Thanks to awesome company customer service (thank you Gillian Williams) for putting up with my incessant emails, calls and plethora of pictures, and promptly responding. I never felt like I had to hunt down help from Earth Easy customer service). After what seemed like more than a month of trying to get a replacement box of damaged and missing parts to me….it finally made it! We love it. Thank you Gillian for all your help, you were awesome. The compost bin is sturdy, and well made. I expect many years of happy composting as a result of the quality.

    Great!

Love it! Our old plastic compost spinner fell apart after about 5 years, hoping this one lasts much longer. I was a little disappointed that there are quite a few plastic parts, and that the white insulation pieces are just foam. But once all together it does feel sturdy. Assembly was easy with 2 people, there's a great video on YouTube.

    Wonderful composter!

It’s handsome. It rotates smoothly. I really do love this composter. It’s better than any I’ve had. Words of advice: it’s not as easy to assemble as their video will have you believe. That being said, watch the video and DO NOT follow the instructions that come with it. I am a small woman who put this together myself using the instructions… in the hot sun. The metal was burning my arms as I strained and struggled to squeeze the styrofoam together and get screws in their proper alignment with this thing spinning around. The steps used in the video make it seem much easier, but they cut away from how difficult it is to squeeze the parts together. A partner would be a big help. In the end, it was well worth it. It’s beautiful to use and to behold.

    Form Over Function

This is one of the best looking composters we’ve seen online and uses very little plastic! It took about 90mins to assemble with a second pair of hands at times. Unfortunately, we had to wait 6weeks for it to arrive and started the compost process in the dead of CT winter. It’s hard to keep the temperature up without placing a hot water bottle inside a few times a day even though it’s advertised as a 4season piece of equipment. Some leakage has occurred and the lids have also frozen shut on occasion. Fingers crossed this was worth the money when winter passes.

    Love it.

Was a little difficult to line up the different panels during installation. With some readjusting it finally went together. Took about 3 hours total. Now that’s it’s together it looks great and working excellent.

    Perfect for us

Seems like we got the right size and the two chambers is a great idea. We have yet to finish filling the first bin. The handles around the unit make it simple to spin. No critters are going to get in. Excited to see how first batch comes out.

The directions say to use 2 people to assemble and I think that's sound advice. I did 99% of it on my own. There was some sweat equity at times. The foam used on the inside is sturdy. When putting on the panels, an extra hand is a big help to hold it down as the foam against foam makes it hard to hold when you try to put screws on the side (this will make sense when you are assembling)
