Spring Garden Sale: What the Marked-Down Pieces Are Built From
One millimeter of bent steel, hot-dip galvanized with an Aluzinc treatment, then sealed under a UV-resistant powder coat. That specification sits behind the planter boxes anchoring this spring garden sale, and it is the reason every panel carries a ten-year guarantee against rust. Bedd, the Norwegian company that designs and produces them, built the range as a system of interchangeable panels, nicknamed LEGO for the garden.
Everything else gathered under the Spring Equinox Flash Sale banner is specified just as tightly: a molded vertical planter, a seed blend mixed to a published ratio, a fertilizer stabilized by composting, and a wall rack in powder-coated steel. What moves is the pricing. Some sizes and finishes carry a struck-through regular price, others sit at their normal price, and which is which shifts as stock turns over, so the grid is the only reliable read on today's numbers.
Bent steel and nylon wing-nuts
The rectangular Bedd boxes come as 16" W x 31" L in a 10" or 20" depth, and as 24" W x 47" L in a 20" depth. The square version is 24" W x 24" L, 10" or 16" deep. Both shapes come in black or rust. Walls and bottom plate secure with weather-resistant nylon wing-nuts, so assembly takes one person, and boxes bought together can be tied to each other as they go up to screen a patio, balcony, deck or terrace. The bottom plate is drilled for drainage, which makes a light potting mix the right fill and heavy garden soil the wrong one.
Bedd Planter Box Accessories: stainless steel legs and wheels, sold in 2-packs, tested to loads of 200 lbs per wheel and adding 3" of height, with locking wheels as a separate option. The self-watering insert is a 7"-deep, 30 L sub-soil reservoir with a 21" fill tube and a water-level indicator. A 24" x 24" or 16" x 31" box takes two 2-packs; the 47" boxes take three. Watering kits do not fit 10" tall planters.
Molded plastic, stacked in about two square feet
GreenStalk's Basket Weave tower is molded from thick food-grade, UV-resistant plastic that is free of BPA, BPS and PVC, made in the USA, and warranted five years on both color and function. The 5-tier stands 19" W x 55" T with thirty 10"-deep pockets and about 5 cubic feet of mix, roughly 40 gallons, deep enough for peppers, potatoes and tomatoes. The 7-tier is 19" W x 56" T with forty-two 7" pockets and 5.5 cubic feet, better suited to lettuce, herbs and strawberries. One reservoir at the top waters the whole stack. Evergreen or maple.
A blend and a compost
MicroLawn Low & Slow is 85% turf-type tall fescue, 10% 4N perennial ryegrass and 5% microclover coated with a natural inoculant that ensures nitrogen fixation, which is why an established MicroLawn needs no fertilizer afterward. A 5 lb bag seeds 1,000 square feet in sun to light shade.
Sustane's Turf Starter 4-6-4 is aerobically composted turkey litter, feather meal and sulfate of potash. The composting fully stabilizes it, so it can go down in direct contact with grass seed without burning it: 6 lbs per 1,000 square feet when overseeding, 25 lbs dug into the top 2 inches for a new lawn from seed. A 30 lb bag covers up to 5,000 square feet. OMRI Listed, USDA Certified Biobased, made in the USA.
Powder-coated steel on the wall
The StoreYourBoard G-Tool system is steel and aluminum under a black powder coat, 46" L x 15.5" W x 12" H, with 45 mounting slots and a 3D pin-locking system for moving hangers around. Four large and two small hangers are included and the rack takes up to six attachments: shovels, rakes, hoses, extension cords, ladders, folding chairs. It supports 300 lbs, up to 100 of them on the upper shelf, and carries a lifetime warranty. Mount it into wooden studs or concrete; masonry anchors are not included.
