Overview

The Harcot Apricot Tree, introduced in 1977 and developed in Canada, lets home orchardists enjoy the simple pleasures of growing sun-ripened apricots in their own backyard. You’ll find countless uses for these delectable all-natural snacks, and every year you’ll want to try new recipes.

Most apricot trees open their delicate blossoms in very early spring, making them vulnerable to late frosts, which can ruin the crop. Researchers worked on developing later-blooming hardy apricot trees as part of an extensive fruit tree breeding program. At least five different trees were used in breeding the Harcot. Besides being hardy to cold and a late bloomer, this variety shows resistance to three diseases that can afflict apricots: bacterial spot, brown rot, and perennial canker.

Features & Benefits:

  • "Prunus armeniaca 'Harcot'"
  • Grows in full sun
  • Disease resistant variety
  • Rich in vitamin A
  • White blooms in late spring
  • Fruiting in mid summer
  • Arrives bare root, roughly 48" tall and 18" wide
  • Semi dwarf, mature size ranges from 12-15' tall and 8-10' wide
  • Grown & shipped from the USA

Please note, unfortunately at this time we cannot ship apricot trees into CA,CO,ID,OR,WA.

Care Instructions:

Watering: Water your apricot daily for the first 3-5 weeks; then water 2-3 times a week for the remainder of the year until winter. Watering needs may be altered due to extreme weather conditions. Continue to water during droughts or extreme heat for the first couple years.

Soil/Conditions: Apricots prefers well-draining, acidic, moist loam or sandy soil.

Apricots enjoy lots of sun and warm summer weather, and do especially well in dry climates. They appreciate regular irrigation, but excess moisture must drain freely, as soggy soil will cause root rot.

Shipping & Delivery:

All Bower & Branch plants are fresh from the grower and shipped in specialized grower packaging. Plants are shipped on specific days depending on your location to reduce days in transit.

Apricot starts shipping mid February and continues through May. Shipping is not available year-round.

Please note, unfortunately at this time we cannot ship apricot trees into CA,CO,ID,OR,WA.
