Codling moths can infest every apple in an orchard if left unchecked. The worms burrow through the fruit, leaving brown scabs and tunnels. Codling moth worms hatch out of eggs which are laid on the fruit by female moths. The moths emerge 3 to 5 times a year starting soon after bud break in early spring.

Controlling the moths during these key flight times, before the eggs are laid, can effectively prevent worm damage to fruit. The Codling Moth Trap pinpoints these flight times by capturing the male moths which fly at the same time as the female moths. Apply appropriate controls at these peak times.

How To Use:

Package contains two pheromone lures, two traps and hangers. Lures last 4 weeks.

Attach hanger. Grasp trap by top and bottom flaps, and pull apart to form diamond shape. Open lure packet. Using gloves, place one lure on the inside upper surface of the trap. Hang the trap 2-3 feet inside the tree canopy. Place traps in trees 1-2 weeks before bud break in early spring. Check for moths once a week. Recycle or dispose of traps when full.

    • Aren't there anything for all insects?........I don't know what insect is in my trees beside japanese beetles..........Which are devouring my plants........Have Bag a Bug but they are not going there at all...................It would be expensive to buy all products.............Nothing will kill all?
    • You are right, there are many different insects that can cause problems in trees. I assume you are referring to fruit trees. Here is how we control fruit tree insects:
      1. use organic methods to grow healty trees. No chemical fertilixers are used.
      2. use apple maggot traps to ensure fruit without worms or worm holes. (there are available in our store)
      3. every second year we spray dormant oil on the trees to discourage insects from nesting in the trees.

For tent caterpillars, we manually pick off the nests in summer. If the nest is too high, we tape a small propane caninster with torch attached to a long stick, then light the torch and raise this up to quickly scorch the nests. If you try this, you must be quick with the torch so as not to burn the branch under the caterpillar tent nests. We can rid our 15 trees of tent caterpillers in about an hour using this method.
