Overview

Designed for durability and cleanability, this large chicken silo holds 80lbs of feed to keep your flock happy and healthy. The innovative funnel system inside the silo channels a continuous flow of feed directly to the eight ports, eliminating hard-to-reach dead spots to help prevent spoilage.

The custom molded feed ports feature hooded drip guards to keep the feed dry. The raised feed shields prevent scraping and minimize bill-out. This feeding silo is ideal for pellets, crumble, mash, or your own feed blend.

Feeders are available in either the single post mounting system that stakes into the ground, or with adjustable legs. The adjustable legs allow the feed ports to be set at 9", 13" or 17" from the ground.

Features & Benefits:

  • Designed for durability and cleanability
  • UV-stabilized, rust proof, rotomolded HDPE body & lid
  • Roost-resistant lockable hinged lid
  • Molded-in drip edges channel water away from the feed ports
  • Choice of bases - adjustable legs or single post mount
  • Holds 80lbs of feed
  • Ideal for pellets, crumble, mash or your own feed blend.
  • Features 8 "soft touch" feed ports
  • Elevated design prevents scratch-out
  • Suitable for all climates, year-round
  • Made in the USA

Chicken Math:

In general, plan for each chicken to have access to roughly ¼ - ½ lb of feed a day. This may change based on the availability of supplemental food, and size of your birds. With the large, 80lb feed silo, you can accommodate quite a large flock with daily feeding.

Many chicken keepers find that having 6-8 birds per feeding port is a good ratio, and so combined with a 80lb drum, you can keep 60-64 birds happy and fed with consistent feed replenishments. However, if you’re wanting to reduce the time spent filling up feeders, one silo can accommodate 15-20 birds with a weekly feeding.

We recommend having enough feeders where the feed is consumed in no more than 1-2 weeks. Using a feeder that is too large, taking several weeks to run out, will lead to more spoilage. If you have a large run, it may be helpful to have multiple watering and feed stations, especially in warmer weather.
