Overview
Vesta Precision's embossed biodegradable vacuum bags and rolls are made from renewable resources (PLA Resin) that decompose over time, so you can decrease the amount of single-use plastics in your kitchen. These pouches have been put to the test for strength and durability, and can be used for everything from freezer storage to sous-vide cooking. They work in most vacuum sealers - external clamp or chamber models.
Once you're done with your biodegradable bags, they can be diverted from landfills, incinerators, as well as our waterways by going into a home compost pile! While they may not compost in 30 days, our stringent testing shows that they will biodegrade by 80% within 105 days. Plastic counterparts will remain in our environments for up to 400 years!

Please note, the maximum temperature tolerance is 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius). At higher temperatures, the bags will begin to biodegrade.
Composting VestaEco Vacuum Sealing Bags:
While composting PLA resin products will take longer than, for example, banana peels or salad greens, it is possible in a home-compost pile with the right expectations. Our testing with INNOVHUB shows that they will biodegrade by 80% within 105 days in an aerobic compost pile. As long as you're able to allow these PLA bags some time, you can successfully divert these from the landfill and successfully compost them.
PLA resin products are considered a "brown" in your compost piles, but should be added in moderation. As PLA products do take longer to decompose than, for example, kitchen scraps, we recommend placing these bags in a longer-term compost pile that will sit for a year.
PLA resin products may not fully decompose without an active compost pile. Simply burrying them in the ground will not yield the same results in the same amount of time as using an active compost pile where heat and microbes are actively breaking down organic materials.
