The VegTrug is an elevated garden planter, perfect for growing fruit, vegetables, and herbs without bending or kneeling. It is designed for gardening on decks or patios, and is available in two sizes.
Made from sustainable plantation-grown fir, the VegTrug is a beautiful elevated garden planter that is built to last. Its easy working height of 31-inches means no more bending or kneeling to plant your garden, making it perfect for wheelchair users or the elderly. Includes fitted membrane liner and built-in drainage.
The VegTrug is very simple to assemble and includes detailed instructions. You can also watch a video of the VegTrug being built on this page. Once you have put it together, simply place the pre-formed liner into the VegTrug so that the top edge overlaps. Fold the liner back over the top edge of the VegTrug, and pull the drawstring to tighten the liner and hold it into place whilst filling the VegTrug with a suitable potting mix. Fill to within 1-2 inches of the top edge. Once the potting mix is in place, release the drawstring and tuck the liner down to be level with the potting mix. We recommend that you put the VegTrug in place before you fill it with potting mix, as it will become heavy.
The VegTrug is pre-treated with a safe water-based preservative. As a raw material, the wood will naturally contract and expand due to the humidity and weather conditions over time. It will fade in color when placed in direct sunlight, and should be treated on an annual basis. Ensure that you use a safe, non-toxic product such as Eco Wood Treatment.
The VegTrug comes with one liner. Additional liners, greenhouse covers, and trellises are available below. These accessories are custom designed for the VegTrug:
VegTrug Frame and Greenhouse or Shade Covers
VegTrug Insect, Fleece and Shade Covers (no frame)
Is the VegTrug too wide for your deck or patio? Try the VegTrug Wallhugger, which has all the same benefits of the VegTrug but a narrower design and flat back to 'hug' your walls, railings or fences.
