The Compost Wizard Jr. comes fully assembled and requires little maintenance. Just turn once a week and after addition of new material, you can see compost in as little as 14 days! Help keep organic waste out of our landfills by composting.

The ends feature aeration holes which provide much needed airflow for the compost batch with the option of drilling more for those who live in areas with low air currents.

The base has four little wheels mounted on it which allows the drum to be spun easily. The drum can also be lifted off the base in case you want to roll it to a different location or to off-load compost directly to your garden bed.

The 12" twist off lid keeps your compost safely closed off, but is easy to remove and doubles as an extra turning point. The handles provide grips to make turning even easier.

The low profile ensures that it stays out of sight and won't be blown over in high winds. The resin material used to mold the bin is 100% recycled and the rich dark color absorbs the sun's heat, keeping your compost at a nice hot temperature.

    • Would this work in a shady spot? I have a shady yard and am concerned about being able to get the compost to the proper temperature in the shade. Thanks.
    • While the warmth of sunlight can help speed the composting process, you will still do fine with your composter placed in shade. Most of the warmth is generated by the composting process, and if you maintain a balanced compost there should be no problem.

    • What type of recycled plastic is used? For instance, it it Type 2 (PET), Type 2 (HDPE) or another type?
    • Hello,

The compost bin is made with 100% recycled polyethylene. This PE is BP-a free and FDA approved for contact with edibles. That means there are no chemicals, toxic or otherwise, leeching into your compost.

  • From L. Weinberg at 1/22/17 2:46 PM
    • Can it be placed near a vegetable garden without attracting rodents? It would seem that there would be a scent detectable from the holes in the composter, that may attract rodents to the area...and they will instead eat the vegetables growing in the garden!
    • There are air vents added to their design, but it they only release when the chamber builds up too much air pressure. At all other times, scents are undetectable from the outside.

    • I want to know how to empty it when it is full? I am elderly and cannot pick it up to empty it to use the composted material.
    • Rest assured there is no need to pick up the composter. You can either detach the barrel from its base and roll it to your garden, or transfer the compost to a wheel barrow with a shovel.

  • From J Tang at 4/5/17 4:28 AM
    • Not clear how this rotation works. From the image it looks as though it has to be placed on its side and rolled. Is this correct?
    • The composter sits on its side at all times, and rollers on the base allow it to turn.

  • From Roxanne at 2/10/18 11:12 AM
    • Do I have to stop adding materials after a while to let it make compost? Or do i continually add materials...Is it better to get 2? Or a dual chamber model?
    • Hi Roxanne! Great question. Fill the composter with 2 parts Brown to 1 part Green . It should be between 1⁄2 - 3⁄4 full (2/3 full recommended). Once you have reached this amount, do not add more material; wait until current batch is complete, remove compost, and start a new batch! Compost can be made in as little as 2 weeks! If you have any other questions or concerns please let us know at 1-888-451-6752 or at!
