Produced to USDA standards, Milky Spore is the safest material ever developed for control over the larvae (grubs) of Japanese Beetles.

Milky Spore is a naturally occurring host specific bacterium (Bacillus popillae-Dutky). This product is lethal to a familiar destructive summer-time pest. It targets and discriminately works to attack the white grubs of Japanese Beetles.

The adult beetle feeds on fruits, flowers, shrubs, garden plants and the foliage of some field crops. At the immature beetle stage, the grub feeds on the roots of grass and other vegetation to include stems of plants.

Directions For Use:
Apply one level measure teaspoon of Milky Spore powder on top of grass in spots every four feet in rows four feet apart. Treat your lawn any season of the year when the ground is not frozen. Water lightly after application to soak spores into soil. Areas between spots will be inoculated naturally. Highly efficient control cannot be expected until the entire area is inoculated. Milky Spore has been known to last 15 years or longer with one application.

You can make a homemade dispenser by attaching (duct tape works great) one pound coffee can with 15 nail holes to a 4 foot stick six inches from the bottom.

Resident spores in treated turf are swallowed by grubs during their normal pattern of feeding; this starts the demise of healthy grubs. Milky Spore disease then begins to cripple the grub, and within the next 7-21 days it will eventually die. As the grub decomposes, it releases billions of new spores which can then kill other grubs. These spores won’t affect other beneficial insects in your lawn.

Milky Spore is not harmful to beneficial insects, birds, bees, pets or man. The product is approved and registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency. Milky Spore will not affect wells, ponds or streams.

The ideal way to combat area infestation is through organized community efforts. Large areas treated with Milky Spore can result in long term control.
