Collection: Gifts for Gardeners

Environmentally friendly gifts for gardeners include products that reduce environmental impact and increase sustainability in the garden and greenhouse. Materials here include untreated cedar, waxed canvas, leather, stainless steel and recycled cotton. Other common elements include recycled goods and naturally compostable products. For someone with an outdoor garden, there are also stunning natural wood trellises and garden beds. These are great gifts for the avid gardener or you can get someone started on their gardening journey with a starter kit.

Choosing garden gifts

When looking for eco friendly gardening gifts, opt for products that are made from durable, long lasting materials. Even better if the materials are manufactured domestically. These sustainable gardening supplies can last years or perhaps a lifetime. The life cycle of a product is important to consider, because reducing the amount of waste going into landfill is a key element of sustainability.

Natural wood is a common material employed in this category that performs extra well in drier climates. When using wood products in wetter areas, adding a layer of non-toxic sealant is a good practice. Products include trellises, planter boxes, elevated garden boxes, and garden beds. The Celtic Farm's waxed canvas gardening apron carries a full set of tools on a cross strap that spreads the weight across both shoulders, and its kneeling pad is 16 oz waxed canvas over nearly two inches of padding.

Sustainable garden gifts

Sustainable garden gifts are an excellent present for the green thumbs in your life. Even the act of growing plants is helping the environment, but eco friendly gardening gifts do even more. Much of it is made close to home. Naturalyards builds its cedar beds in the USA and sells them only through Eartheasy, and CobraHead's precision weeder — 9.2 oz, one steel blade that weeds, digs, furrows and transplants — is American-made too.

Match the gift to how much garden there is. A Butterfly Scatter Garden is nineteen flower seed varieties and enough seed for 125 square feet; the Maine Garden Hod harvests and rinses 16 quarts of produce in one basket; Barebones' Ultimate Hori Hori has a walnut handle, inch marks down the blade for planting depth and a flat pommel for driving stakes. Where there is no ground to dig, the 5 Tier GreenStalk holds 30 planting pockets in about two square feet of floor; where there is, a cedar raised bed is where a first-time gardener starts. Depending on the garden type or lifestyle, there is a garden gift for everyone. Garden kits make it easy to grow plants with all the proper instructions and tools to grow seedlings into herbs, flowers, and trees.

Garden kits

Garden kits are a wonderful idea if you’re looking for environmentally friendly gifts for gardeners or those open to trying gardening. These kits are nicely packaged and include everything needed to grow trees and plants from seeds. Garden kits optimize growing space and make it easy for anyone to grow their favorite plants, including herb gardens. Some of the kits even include a mini greenhouse with absorbent soil medium.

Grow kits are available with a variety of different plant types including sweet peppers, sunflowers, Redwoods, Christmas trees, and more. Garden kits are varied in their price and the contents inside. They’re a wonderful gift idea that’s well received and are even a great idea for kids as it gives them a special project and teaches them about nature and the growth process.

Eco friendly gardening gifts

Eco friendly gardening gifts are a great present whether someone loves to garden or is new to the concept but eager to try. All-in-one garden kits make it easy for even novices to grow their own plants from seeds. For someone who already gardens, pick what gets used weekly: Modern Sprout's Garden Pruners cut on bypass blades and come with a plastic-free holster, and a GrowOya clay vessel sinks into the bed and waters a two to four foot area, depending on size, off one fill every few days. If you do not know what they already own, the Eartheasy gift card never expires and can be emailed on a date you choose.
