Questions about the EvoLux SH LED Light Bulb - 13 Watt, Cool/Warm White
- From Ann at 7/9/10 8:49 PM
- Can I use this light in a 4" recessed can in place of a regular incandescent normal base screw in type bulb
- Yes you can, just be sure it has adequate ventilation. If it has a glass covering over the bottom of the can, it will slowly get hotter in the can, and lifespan of the bulb will be shortened.
The EvoLux bulb is not dimmable, either, so be sure you aren't installing it in a fixture controlled by a dimmer. These bulbs will dim, but once again, their lifespan will be shortened. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No
- From Todd at 7/17/10 3:55 PM
- If using this bulb in a recessed fixture that has a glass cover over it, roughly what percentage is the life of the bulb shortened? Is a cover made out of another material better?
Finally, the page shows both warm and cool white options available, but the menu only offers cool. Is a warm white bulb no longer available for this model? - We don't have statistics on how much the bulb life is shortened by running it in an enclosed fixture, we are just told by the manufacturer that it will void the warranty and shorten it's life. If you can put it in the fixture and leave the glass cover off, that would likely be fine.
If the option to select Warm is not available, that means the Warm is out of stock. It should be back in stock Wed July 21st. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No
