Product Description

***Made with solid Cedar, which is why it is priced so much less than the Redwood versions, and it takes much more assembly than the Redwood versions (8 hrs vs 3 hrs)***

This Complete Raised Garden Bed Kit is a complete self-contained garden for your backyard. Measuring 96" x 96", it is large enough to handle even the most dedicated green thumb. The surround-you design allows easy access to the entire garden. An easy-latch gate keeps critters from entering through the front. Constructed from cedar that is pre-treated with a water-based stain. The wide gate allows individuals in wheelchairs to easily access the garden, and the 20” tall beds are a perfect height to garden in while sitting down.

Features & Benefits

Dimensions:

  • Overall size: 8 feet wide by 8 feet long
  • Planting bed height: 20 inches tall (not including height of trellis)
  • Planting bed soil depth: 12 inches deep (The dirt does not go all the way to the ground)

Irrigation:

  • Soaker hose
  • Battery operated water timer
  • Coiled garden hose
  • Garden sprayer

Cedar wood:

All edges of the cedar are stained with a water-based stain to prevent rot. The cedar measures 1.25 inches thick.

Plastic Liner:

  • The dirt sits in a plastic (High Density Polyethylene) liner with holes for drainage. This means the dirt does not come in contact with the wood, and no moles or weeds can come up through the bed.
  • The plastic liner holds approximately 40 cubic feet of soil. The liner sits 7.5 inches off the ground, on a wood framework.

Hardware:

  • Screws are rust resistant yellow zinc.
  • Gate hinges and latches are powder coated and rust resistant.

Assembly:

Most of the parts are pre-drilled, but some drilling is required. You must drill a hole to run an irrigation hose through the bed. Assembly can take two people up to 8 hours to complete, assuming no prior experience with basic wood work. The tools needed include: drill, mallet, tape measure, pliers, wrench, a level, and a few drill bits.

Guarantee:

Manufacturer’s 1-year pro-rated limited warranty. Wood parts are covered against rot and termite damage for 1-year from purchase date, and non-wooden parts are covered for 1-year from purchase date. Returns may be subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Questions about the Cedar Complete Raised Garden Bed Kit - 8' x 8' x 20"

Sort by Descending
  • From Pam at 7/17/10 2:23 PM
    • I have a large concrete patio. Is it possible to place the raised garden bed on concrete? I am concerned about drainage and whether the surrounding concrete will get run-off and become stained.
    • Runoff from water draining through a raised bed will stain the concrete, as you have noted. Most patios are not level, however, and are designed to drain away from the house. You may be able to situate your raised beds on the 'downhill' side of the patio where runoff is directed into the yard. You could check with a level to see if there would be significant directional runoff than might work for you.
