DLF Pickseed: Low-Maintenance Microclover Lawn Seed

DLF Pickseed is a turf grass-seed brand, and this collection brings its consumer microclover lawn seed to your door. Microclover is a genetically dwarf clover bred to stay small, blend into turf, and pull nitrogen out of the air to feed your grass naturally — so an established lawn never needs synthetic fertilizer after it is established. The result is a dense, deep-green, low-maintenance lawn that crowds out weeds, holds its color through drought, and cuts down on mowing.

You'll find three ways to grow one here.

MicroLawn Grass Seed & Microclover Blend (5 lb): A ready-to-sow mix of turf-type tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, and 5% coated microclover. One 5 lb bag covers about 1,000 sq ft of new lawn.

MicroLawn Low & Slow Grass Seed (5 lb): The same fescue, ryegrass, and microclover blend tuned to grow slow and stay low, for a lawn that needs cutting far less often.

Microclover Seed (1 lb): A 100% certified, inoculant-coated microclover seed to overseed an existing lawn at 1 to 2 lb per 1,000 sq ft and convert it into a self-feeding clover lawn.

Whether you're starting from bare soil or greening up tired turf, DLF Pickseed microclover gives you a tougher, more sustainable lawn with less work, less water, and no chemical fertilizer after establishment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is microclover?

Microclover is a genetically dwarf clover bred to stay small and blend into a lawn. It is a nitrogen-fixing legume, so it pulls nitrogen from the air and feeds it to surrounding turf grass, producing a dense, naturally green lawn that is easy to maintain.

What is the downside of microclover?

Microclover stays low and rarely flowers when mowed, so most people see very few drawbacks. Flower heads are removed with low mowing, and it grows best in sun to light shade rather than deep shade.

Does microclover come back every year?

Yes. Microclover is a perennial, so once it's established it returns each season and continues fixing nitrogen for your lawn without reseeding.

Will microclover choke out my grass?

No. Microclover is bred to stay small and grow with turf grass rather than overtake it, which is why it's blended at just 5% in the MicroLawn mixes.
