  • What are the dimensions of this trap? I would like to try and camouflage it with a paper lantern or something as it could be a little bit of an eyesore in my front yard.

  • Does the trap let out an oder?
  • The trap itself should not let out an odor - however, once it is filled, you might notice a smell coming from the flies. The best solution for this is to either place the trap downwind, or to change the trap more regularly. Once the trap is 3/4 full, it should be changed.

  • Can these be used inside? We live in the country - in a log home - the flies and wasps INSIDE are horrific - we have a 24' ceiling in our great room with two large large windows - we think they are coming in thru the windows and are working to seal them up - however, in the meantime (and we are not the obly ones suffering through this - our neighbors all around are also) we are trying to get rid of this infestation. Every year about this time we go through this. The insects always congregate in the sunniest area in our homes; our windows in the great room are the sunniest area. If we could use these traps, inside and out, we might be able to rectify this situation (all of us) along with sealing all doors and windows. There are approximately 8 homes in a 400 acre area. And, again, it only happens about this time of the year - once it gets cold, we are fine. And yes, there are livestock, and horses in the surrounding areas.
  • Yes, the Flies Be Gone Non-Toxic Fly Trap can be used indoors, but with a few considerations. This trap is very effective, and will draw flies to it. Even flies outdoors may be attracted to the trap if the flies have easy access to the trap. So you should try to seal entry points during the infestation season.
    Secondly, you will want to locate the trap away from areas where people congregate. The trap will start to fill with flies and it is not particularly appealing to sit nearby. If your home is large enough to get some distance from the trap then you can use it for the infestation period. I do not think you will want the trap indoors any more than necessary.
    Since you have livestock in the area, you will find this trap very useful outdoors during the summer and fall. It is designed for this type of application. However, the trap will have lots of flies buzzing around it, attracted but not yet captured. This is why you want to locate the trap at least 15 - 20' away from where you want to be.

  • How do I know when i maximized the 20,000 fly capacity? I have maggots hatched inside the dead flies and some of those are climbing out of the trap, is this normal?
    
  • If small flies have hatched and are climbing out, it might be a good idea to throw that trap out and use another one.

  • Will this product be effective in attracting "green files"?
  • Yes. The Flies Be Gone trap will attract and kill green bottle and blue bottle flies.
