The gourmet mushroom kit is a simple, convenient way to grow your own Pearl Oyster mushrooms indoors on your windowsill. You can enjoy your own home-grown mushrooms any time of year in any location. With this clever box design, growing your own mushrooms is simple. Just open the box, set it on the windowsill, and mist twice a day with the included mister. In 10 - 15 days your first harvest is ready. You can expect at least two harvests, and some users get up to 4 harvests per box. On average, you will harvest up to 1 1/2 lbs of gourmet Pearl Oyster mushrooms.

The mushrooms grow in a soil matrix using 100% recycled coffee grounds. While the coffee grounds make an ideal growing medium, there is no taste of coffee imparted to the mushrooms, nor is there any cafeine content in the mushrooms.

The kit will stay fresh in the box for months before you have to start growing your mushrooms. Make sure you keep your kit in a relatively cool area/room that doesn’t receive any direct sunlight (i.e., closet, bedroom). After you open it, however, nature will begin the growth process and you'll have to start misting!

Pearl Oyster Mushrooms are commonly found in Europe and Asia, and are valued for use in many cuisines due to their delicate velvety texture, pleasantly smooth taste and highly-dense nutrient content. One third of their dry weight is protein. They also contain amino acids and enzymes that have been shown to boost the immune system, and are rich in vitamin C, vitamin B complex, and most of the mineral salts required by the human body. Calcium, phosphorous and iron content in oyster mushrooms are double the amount available in most meats.

Use these mushrooms in pastas, soups and stews, skewers, stir frys, salads, or as garnishes for roasts. These tasty mushrooms can be eaten raw or cooked.
