Each filter lasts about 6 months and the ceramic compost keeper comes with a set of two filters, so you're set for the first year of use. Relpacement filters are inexpensive, and available by clicking the link below.

    • How is this compost keeper better than using, say, a plastic bucket?
    • You can certainly use a plastic bucket as your kitchen compost keeper. It will need a lid so fruit flies are not attracted to the compost.
      Our compost keepers have a few advantages however:
      - they are attractive, which is more appealing in peoples' kitchens
      - a carbon filter masks any odors
      - the weighted lid of the ceramic compost keper keeps pets out of the compost
