Made with solid cedar, this 8' x 12' x 20" garden provides approximately 65 square feet of planting space, and is perfect for a family of six.

If you want to grow your own organic vegetables, but you’re busy and don’t have the patience to deal with pests eating your plants or don’t have the time to water it every day, this complete system may be perfect for you. The innovative design removes many of the irritating problems gardening can have.

Features & Benefits:

  • Rabbit-proof – fence sections are 34 inches high and backed with black mesh. Gate is black mesh over wire grid for strength. Comes pre-assembled.
  • Tall beds – 20” tall beds mean you don’t have to bend down as far, and the soil will retain more moisture than shorter beds. Plus, you can grow larger plants with deeper roots. No liner needed.
  • Built-in Trellis – peas, beans and flowers can climb the sturdy 5’8" tall trellis at the end of the bed.
  • 5/4" thick Cedar – made of high quality 1 1/4" thick rot resistant cedar lumber that is ideal for damp environments.
  • High-quality Fasteners – Included are rust-proof ceramic coated screws.
  • Optional Automatic Watering System – and timer waters your garden for you. Comes with soaker hose, automatic timer, and sprayer.

Built-in Trellis:

These beds come with a 5’8" high trellis at the end of the bed. As well, the mesh that is affixed to the side fencing panels is also good for trellising. You'll increase your growing space by allowing plants to grow vertically. Peas, green beans, cucumbers, and tomatoes grow beautifully with the aid of the trellis.

Optional Automatic Watering System:

Optional Watering Kit

Located at the back corner of the garden, this automatic soaker hose watering system takes even the simplest of duties out of your hands. We use a digital battery operated controller that is very easy to use. A garden hose can be connected to the unit, or the hose adaptor can be removed so the irrigation unit can be tied into your existing irrigation system with piping. When the controller turns on, water seeps out through the 75 ft. soaker hose. Price: $180.00. Includes:

  • Digital Battery Operated Controller - automatically waters your garden.
  • Soaker Hose - lay hose around your plants, cover with a layer of mulch, and water seeps out when controller turns on (hose stakes included).
  • Coiled Hose - conveniently mounted in the walkway of the fenced garden.
  • Sprayer - attaches to end of the coiled hose. You can manually spray your plants if you choose to, or use the hose to wash your hands.

You can set it up yourself, or have a local handy person follow the instructions and set it up for you. Assembly can take up to 4 hours, and adding the soil (approx. 4.5 cubic yards) can take an additional few hours. Note that no digging is required – the entire structure sits on your lawn.

All of our fencing sections are approximately 34" high and are backed with black plastic mesh. We use an air compressor staple gun and hundreds of tiny staples to securely fasten the mesh to the lumber. When the fencing is delivered, the mesh is already affixed. So, it takes only minutes to attach the fencing sections to the garden beds. The mesh will keep out dogs and rabbits. Up close, it looks attractive, but from a distance you can't even see it.

This 8' x 12' garden is wheelchair accessible. The entry to the garden is 36 inches wide and 32 inches long. The interior walkway is 34 inches wide and 80 inches long, allowing easy access to the garden beds.

    • We are interested in purchasing a Redwood Complete Raised Garden Bed Kit, however we have deer and a lot of wind. Do you have any suggestion on how to deal with these problems. We are not allowed to put up a deer fence around our property, but we might be able to but screening around/attached to the garden bed. And is there screening that would block or reduce the wind, and allow the sunlight to come in?
    • Deer fencing is commonly sold in farm-supply stores, and hardware stores. It comes on a roll, and can be either 4' or 8' wide, and as long as you like. It's a very thin black mesh, with each square measuring about one inch by one inch. It's also very inexpensive - a 60' long section might only cost you $30.

The great thing about this deer fencing is it lets the sun through just fine and it doesn't obscure your view. In fact, because it's thin and black, it's almost invisible when its up. The wind will blow right through it without a problem.

You may have to run a thin white line/cord through the top of the mesh fence to show the deer that the fence is there. If it's really dark at night in your area, the deer might not see the fence. I've used this in my garden and it's kept the deer out.

We can customize your bed with taller corner posts so that all you need to do is wrap the mesh around. We can also install extra fencing panels on the bed in case you'd rather not bother with the mesh.

Just give us a call today and we can explain the options in more detail!

    • What would I need to do to prepare the ground where this is to set. Also, we have alot of rabbits. Will this system keep them out.

      Thank you,
    • The Cedar Complete Raised Garden Bed Kit can be set on the ground without having to prepare the ground beneath the beds, since the 20" soil depth of the raised beds is sufficient for growing just about any vegetable crop. However, there are benefits to digging the ground before you assemble the kit, since some of the roots of your vegetables will access the deeper soil for available nutrients. Also, pre-digging the subsoil gives you a chance to remove any large rocks or debris which may impede root growth or drainage.

In our raised bed garden, we dig down about 12 - 16" to break up the soil, clear it of rocks, and add some amendments such as lime and rock phosphate before constructing any new beds. The bulk of the amendments, such as compost, peat and fertilizer are top-dressed, i.e., added once the bed is nearly full. We wait until almost planting time before adding these valuable amandments.

This raised bed kit is designed with rabbit-proof fencing, so the rabbits should not be a problem.

    • How much and what type of soil should I purchase to fill my 8x12x20 raised garden bed. My garden will be a flower garden. Little to no vegetables. Can you also discuss soil amendments (how much and what type)?
Got the kit. Easy peasy to put together. CAn't wait for Spring.
    • Here are two articles we've put together to help you develop a good soil mix for your beds.

In general, you want to use some basic garden soil (dirt) the fill your beds most of the way. Save your valuable amendments like fertilizer, rock phosphate, lime, manure and compost for the top 1/4 or 1/3 of the bed. This is because rain and waterings will cause these to migrate deeper in to the soil. You want your starters to be able to access these amendments while they are young and the roots are not yet deep. We hold off on adding compost till a day or to before planting. In some cases we even top-dress with compost, assuming the compost is fully finished.

Once your beds are topped up, rain and watering will cause the soil level to drop 1" - 3". We usually leave it this way to make a bit of room to set the mulch down on top of. The couple inches of sides will keep the mulch from blowing or falling off the beds into the pathway. Although you are planting flowers, the use of mulch is still useful to reduce water loss to evaporation and keep the important top few inches of soil moist and not crusted over.

    • Does this have to be set up on a flat surface? The part of my yard I want to set it up on has a slight slope and I am wondering if I would be able to set this up as is or if I would have to figure out a way to level the ground.
    • This does not have to be set up on a flat surface. Please follow our extensive guide that describes how to install raised beds on a slope:
