Note: Image above left shows the 4' x 8' x 11" raised bed with aluminum cross brace.

Made in the USA from kiln-dried Oregon Cedar, a durable and naturally rot-resistant wood, these raised beds are sturdy and easy to assemble. Each bed is coated with a special non-toxic sealant which extends the natural lifespan and improves the rot resistance, allowing us to offer a 15 year limited manufacturer's warranty.
The corners are half-lapped, with rods going down through the assembly, which keeps the corners from ever working loose. It's easy to stack the boards to make raised beds in many different heights.
Choose between 4'x4', 4'x6', 4'x8', or 4'x12' beds. Each one has a choice of five heights: 11", 16.5", 22", 27.5" or 33" inches tall.

Dimensions:
All boards are standard surfaced 2x6 with actual dimensions of 1.5"x 5.5", and two or more boards stacked on top of each other give the raised beds their height of 11". If you order the 22" height version, that's equivalent to adding another bed, except it comes with double-length pins. The 33" height is three beds stacked upon each other, with triple-length pins. You'll notice the prices are better the higher you go!
Features & Benefits:
- Tool-free assembly - Raised beds assemble in minutes with no tools required.
- Superior strength - No hardware, screws or nails to loosen with swelling and shrinking of wood.
- Rust-proof Aluminum cross braces are included in the 4x8 and 4x12 beds to keep them from bowing out in the middle.
- Natural, rot-resistant wood – kiln-dried Oregon Cedar is guaranteed to last at least 15 years, and does not need to be finished. You can also stain the outside of the boards if you want them to blend in with your fence or patio design.
Rot-Resistant Cedar:
These raised beds are made from kiln-dried Oregon cedar—the strongest of all cedars. As strong as Douglas Fir and more rot-resistant than Redwood. It's a fragrant, light-colored wood with even texture and strong natural oils that help protect against moisture and microorganisms.
To enhance the cedar's natural rot resistance, the boards are treated with a non-toxic silica-based wood stabilizer which hardens the wood and further extends its lifespan.
The cedar's superior strength and durability means these raised beds last many times longer than most lumber found in stores. In normal conditions, we guarantee a life-span of 15 years. It really is an extraordinary wood—perfect for long-lasting raised beds!
Innovative design:

These beds are made from kiln-dried Oregon cedar , a rot-resistant wood that can be painted or stained, or left unfinished to gray naturally. The simple design of these kits allow wood to shrink and swell, for better strength and durability in wet/dry conditions. Hardware like screws and nails eventually loosen as wood ages. Our beds assemble with rust-free metal pins set securely through the ends of each board. So after years of exposure the planter won't fall apart, and yet can be disassembled by hand if needed.
Assembly:
Watch the video on the left! Just level ground, stack boards and insert corner pins to create a long-lasting garden bed for your flowers and vegetables. No tools necessary. Assembly takes just minutes. The pins will be the same height as the bed you order, so you can place the bed on your lawn, or on a hard surface.

Questions about the Natural Cedar Raised Garden Bed - 4' Widths

- From Rick at 9/8/10 9:58 AM
- I like the look of your product, but....the contact of wet soil against the unprotected wood is a general recipe for rot. How many years in the wet Northwest can you guarantee? I know western red cedar won't last more than two years in these conditions.
Can you recommend any type of (non-toxic) protective coating or plastic film to keep the wet soil from contacting the inside and bottom surface of the boards? - Our Natural Cedar Raised Garden Beds are made of a species of yellow cedar known for its rot resistance and toughness.
In our garden we have been using the same raised beds, made of Westerd Red Cedar. for about 10 years now. We live in the Pacific Northwest. The Natural Cedar Raised Garden Beds, made of yellow cedar, will last longer.
Exactly how long a cedar raised bed will last depends on the local climate and the soil drainage, so it is hard to give a precise time frame. However, I would expect that these beds, our highest quality among our wood beds, will last well over 10 years in the Pacific Northwest. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No

- I like the Natural yellow Cedar 4' raised garden bed. But how should I determine
which height to order? Which is the most practical and easiest to work in? I am
trying to decide between the 22" or the 33"?
Also would these raised garden beds do well in the South Jersey area?
- Hi Anne,
The raised beds in our gardens are all between 11" and 20" in height. The most common height for raised beds is 11|. If the bed is set on ground (rather than a cement patio, for example), the plant roots can go as deep as they need.
The deeper beds give you the advantage of easier tending because you don't have to bend down as far. However, the deeper you go the more stress is put on the sides of the beds. The design you are looking at addresses this and so the deep bed may not be a problem. But the added soil depth means you need more soil. Most vegetables don't need over 20" of soil to grow well.
Yes, these beds will do well in the NJ climate region. Having raised beds will let you start planting a little sooner than if you planted in the ground.

- From Patti at 4/10/11 4:10 PM
- If I buy 3 of the 4'x8'x11" kits, is it possible to configure them to be 2 4'x8'x15.5" beds?
- Hi Patti,
Yes, you can reconfigure the beds easily. Your 3 beds, each 4' x 8' x 11", can be assembled into 2 beds, each 4' x 8' x 16.5".
Please note that your math had the two taller beds at 15.5", but actually the height would 16.5".

- A native Washingtonian I am, I have a closed in back porch (with a cement floor) that gets MAJOR sunlight. Will a garden bed work on under those conditions? I want to start my own garden, but the thought of starting it outside where the critters can eat the fruits of my labor frightens me. Especially being a garden virgin
- Some gardeners have used these beds set directly on cement patios. Our advice is to ensure the drainage can escape the bed (if the concrete is uneven it should drain OK, or you may need to drill a few small drain holes near the bottom of the bed sides). The main consideration is to check how the cement floor drains. It must drain away from the house.
Secondly, you will need to get a bed that is at least 11" high to have enough soil for root growth. In outdoor raised beds, the roots can go down into the ground, but they are limited in your situation.
You should be able to grow inside your porch for these reasons, but you will also need to check how much sun gets in. You will need at least six hours of direct sunlight on the bed for adequate plant growth. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No

- I am planning to order a couple of 16.5 inch high beds and installing them in an area where there is existing turf grass. Do I need to place landscape cloth over the grass or remove it to prevent it from coming up in the garden, or is the depth of soil placed on top of it sufficient to deter the grass from growing?
- The depth of soil in your bed will prevent any grass from emerging through. You do not need to remove your lawn, but we advise that you dig in and turn it over a foot or so, as this will speed the breakdown of the clods of grass and will let you identify the soil type beneath the bed and remove and rocks or woody debris. There is no need for landscape cloth. Just fill you bed with soil, add amendments, and get growing.

High quality product.

We purchased the 4x12x16" model. We were very impressed with the quality of the materials. The design is simple, substantial and very good looking. I would recommend it without reservation. Customer service was very professional and helpful. The video is dated and the product no longer requires the aluminum rods to be driven in the ground.

I bought this raised bed because I wanted to start a vegetable garden this year and wanted something well made and easy to assemble. This product exceeded my expectations. It could not have been easier to assemble and the wood is beautiful. I'll be buying more next year.

I have had these beds for two years now and they are great. My tomatoes are huge and I have tons of fruit, and they are much easier to keep evenly watered here in the dry heat of Colorado than the large pots I tried to use before. They still look great, too.

I have a very small front yard lawn area that is suitable for veggie growing in a small coastal southern california city. I found the cedar raised beds to be attractive, natural and extremely easy to assemble. My first 4x6 bed was so successful that I have ordered another ,taller bed to finish off my front area. I am lucky enough to be able to garden all year long in our mild climate. Being able to create the perfect soil and focus precious water in the raised bed (instead of the lawn) has enabled me to grow an abundance of food and flowers for the neighbors and friends. In addition ,since it is visible to all who pass by,I can design an attractive planting season to season. I feel like it's like painting with plants, putting different colors and textures next to each other. I get many positive reactions from people who walk or drive by and some even pull over or stop to talk. Thanks for helping me enjoy and share the space that was really a boring lawn.

The cedar is solid and of top quality. The design makes these beds very easy to assemble. We bought 2 4'x8'x11" kits. I expect that I'll buy more in the fall or next Spring. Customer service is excellent. Questions were answered quickly.

top quality and design

I have been gardening with raised beds for many years, and built my own out of red cedar boards. I have seen what goes wrong with raised beds - over time they bow out in the middle when the soil gets wet. Eventually they break their stakes or just fall apart.
So when I saw this design with the cross struts of aluminum I saw that these people get it. You need them if your bed is wider than three feet or taller than 8 inches. And they are aluminum which won't ever rust or break down.
We also bought these beds because of the wood they use - it is a yellow cedar that is tough and very rot resistant. I can't buy this wood where I live. I was going to copy this design and make my own but red cedar will eventually split out in the corner if you try to insert a 3/8 rod down through.
These beds are expensive but show real quality and smart design.

I love this bed! I installed two of these this spring. The wood is so hard and gorgeous, it's definitely one of those few purchases where I am more pleased when I get it than I expected. They're filled with dirt, and my plants are 'salad-ready', I am happy to say!

Our bed arrived and my wife had it together before I got home. I am writing to say how pleased we are with this raised bed, it is very solid and substantial. We will be buying another one of these beds next spring.
