Details

The Victor Live Catch Mouse Trap is a galvanized steel box, with a large top lid that can be opened. Inside the box, there are two chambers at opposite ends of the trap. Inside each chamber is a weighted "teeter-totter" ramp that allows mice to enter the trap. Once the mouse is in the trap, the ramp flips back and closes access to the exit. The mouse is trapped, and the ramps are ready to catch the next mouse. The two chambers allow the trap to catch mice from either direction.

Features:

  • Spring traps and poison traps can be dangerous and harmful to both children and pets
  • Spring traps can cause mice or rats to bleed when they are struck, making them more likely to spread disease
  • Mice can starve when trapped in glue traps, which were created as a humane alternative
  • Kill traps are often used when there is an active problem, while live traps can be used as a preventative measure

Specifications:

  • Catches up to 30 mice in one setting
  • Made from galvanized steel to prevent rusting
  • Dimensions: 10" x 6" x 2"

How To Use:

It is important to place your trap in the area where you have seen the most rodent activity. The best way to position your trap is to push the long edge of the trap against a wall, with the side trap entrances closest to the wall. You can choose to bait the trap or not. Using bait will make the trap more effective, and will keep the mice from starving inside the trap before you are able to release them. Peanut butter and cheese are both effective baits. If you are having trouble catching mice, try sprinkling grated cheese on both entrance ramps and outside the entrance holes.

When handling a trap containing mice, it is recommended to wear thick gloves to protect yourself from bites, as mice can carry many diseases. Release mice a minimum of 50 feet away from your home, in a field or forested area if possible. The trap can then be cleaned and reused. The trap is small enough to fit in the kitchen sink for washing, but some people may prefer to wash it outside with a hose. If you do not use gloves while cleaning the trap, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly once you have finished. Let the unit air dry with the lid open.

    • "Kill traps are often used when there is an active problem, while live traps can be used as a preventative measure " - from your writeup about the Victor Live catch mousetrap.

We have an active problem with the critters (ick!) and want to be rid of them - will this trap work?
Is there a way to keep them from coming in at all?
      Thanks for your help!
    • These traps will hold multiple mice which can be released outdoors if you prefer this option. Yes it does work.
However, sometimes the mice attack each other in the holding chamber so these is no assurance all the mice will be unhurt.

The only way to keep mice out of your home is to seal all points of entry. Having a cat also helps.
