The Ultra Mosquito Trap is the top trap of the Mega-Catch line of mosquito traps, and it covers up to one and a half acre. It is designed to catch mosquitoes (including the Asian Tiger Mosquito which carries the West Nile Virus), sand flies, black flies, and other small biting insects.

The Ultra, like all of our traps, does not use (potentially) dangerous propane gas. Instead it uses patent pending multifrequency digital pulse LED lighting, a slightly heated surface, and a scented lure (called Octenol lures). In addition, it has a tank that stores compressed C02 gas, easily filled at mechanic and tire shops. This C02 gas slowly releases, the same equivalent as a human breathing.

Catch's patented variable quantity slow CO2 gas release system to increase capture rates of most mosquito species by between 300 and 400%. The programmable system enables the Ultra to duplicate a key feature of human respiration by slowly releasing small quantities of CO2 into the air plume emanating from the base of the trap.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas, but the amount this produces is less than that a human produces. C02 is safer than propane, in fact C02 is used in the beverage industry to put bubbles into beverages. CO2 can be purchased from hundreds of gas supply outlets and mechanic shops thrughout North America.

Octenol lures are a synthetic scent made to imitate the smell of warm-blooded animals. You won’t be able to smell it, but the mosquitoes will. One lure will last for one month.

As the mosquitoes start probing the trap, they sense the infra red heat inside, and the internal fan sucks them in. They are swept into either a catch bag or a wet catch container, where they quickly dehydrate and die.

The Ultra, has a programmable timer so you can have the trap run in the early morning and late evening when mosquitoes are most active.
