With the continuous cycle Earthmaker Composter you can add fresh compost to the top at any time, and remove finished compost from the base as needed.

Heat and air draws up through holes in the base and shelves, which loosens the compost material as it spills from the shelves to the next level. This natural aeration speeds decomposition without smell.

The Earthmaker Composter produces 10+ gallons of compost each month in a 3 stage process which keeps fresh waste and maturing compost separate.

The Three Stages are:

Top chamber – mixing
Composting begins with microbial action. Fungi and bacteria make heat and also like heat. Radiant energy from the sun (even when it’s cloudy) is helpful, especially in winter. The black color helps absorb the sun’s energy.

Middle chamber – digesting
‘Biological mulching’ occurs during the next phase. The internal climate is cooler and composting continues with invertebrates assisting micro-organisms to further break down larger particles of food and garden waste.

Lower chamber – maturing and storing
As the material reaches the ground, excess water drains away and the mulch turns into compost. If you leave it long enough it will become sweet smelling and ‘friable’, but it can be added to your garden at any stage between mulch and compost.

Each composter comes with a FREE 1 oz Composter Starter from Medina, a $10 value. The starter is good for two applications. It’s not necessary for composting, but it will help speed up your initial batch.
