RECYCLED CONTENT
The recycled content percentage (shown above the Alchemy Goods AG logo on each bag) is 76%. It’s made in the USA from reclaimed bike inner tubes and seat belt straps destined for the landfill. Reusing materials uses much less energy than recycling them.

BIKE INNER TUBES
The exterior is made from reclaimed inner tubes from local bike shops. The tubes are thoroughly washed and inspected, and sewn together to form an incredibly tough and waterproof exterior. Not all of it is recycled – the ash-grey interior lining fabric, reflective tape, and the zippers are also new.

Over 20,000 bike inner tubes have been recycled so far. Each inner tube has distinctive details, like patches, logos and various textures. These are left in, so you can show your friends how each bag is truly recycled, and totally unique. Even the zipper pull is made from a reused Schrader inner tube valve.

And unlike your cotton bag, this bag is waterproof and will not stain.

SEAT BELTS
The straps are reclaimed seat belts from old cars. They’ve been washed and thoroughly inspected. What could be stronger than a seat belt? Plus, they are wider than most messenger bag straps. This will spread the weight over your shoulder, and the smooth finish will not rub a crease into your shirt. The seat belts are firmly anchored into the rubber bag so heavy loads won’t cause the strap to rip out.

HANDMADE IN USA
Each bag is assembled by hand in the Alchemy Goods Seattle workshop, which is another reason why no two bags are exactly the same. Each bag is thoroughly examined to ensure quality is never sacrificed out of haste.

LONG LIFE
This product is guaranteed for life. That’s right, for life. Any repairs are done for free.

FAQ


Will the tubes mark my clothing?
No. Every tube is washed thoroughly as part of the bag production method. All road-grime, and grease are removed during this process. Occasionally during hard use, some rubber may wear off leaving rubber dust on your clothing, but this dust washes off through normal laundering.
