Details

AquaFarm is a self-cleaning fish tank that grows food! The natural waste produced by your fish is pumped up to the grow bed and broken down into the nutrients and food the plants need to grow. The clean water then cycles back down to the tank, creating a sustainable, tabletop ecosystem.

Kit includes everything you need to get started: 3 gallon fish tank, 5 grow pots, pump, gravel for tank, Growstones for pots, organic seeds (basil, wheatgrass, kaleidoscope lettuce), aquatic supplies, natural fish food and water treatment, and a voucher for 1 Betta fish.

Features & Benefits:

  • Easily fits in any kitchen or classroom
  • Design meets sustainability - the perfect green gift!
  • Personal ecosystem: fish waste feeds the plants & plants clean the water
  • Aquaponic system to grow fresh produce in your kitchen
  • Low maintenance: plants filter the water for your fish
  • Includes fish voucher for 1 Betta, organic seeds & free aquatic supplies ($30 value)
  • Assembly time: 20-25 minutes
  • Designed and made in the USA

Inside the AquaFarm:

AquaFarm works as an aquaponic system. Aquaponics is a closed-loop, sustainable farming method that combines traditional aquaculture (raising aquatic creatures) with hydroponics (growing plants without soil). Aquaponics uses 90% less water than traditional farming.

  • 1) Fish produce ammonia-rich waste
  • 2) Beneficial bacteria in your AquaFarm convert the ammonia into nitrates. These naturally occurring bacteria grow best on the Growstones in the plant pots
  • 3) While nitrates are toxic to fish; fortunately, they are great food for plants. As the plants continuously uptake nitrates as the nutrients they need to grow, they are also cleaning the water for your fish

    • Hello,

nice idea and cool design, but what I ask myself is: how does the fish feel - so alone, without a stone or little cave to hide, a plant to play around and a friend or partner? Wouldn´t it be much more nice to give him a companion? Does your system succeed one more inhabitant and a waterplant?

      Best regards

      Dominique
    • We recommend keeping one large male betta fish in your AquaFarm. If you’d like to keep more than one fish in your AquaFarm, we recommend following the 1-inch of fish per gallon rule of thumb. 2-3 fancy guppies or zebra danios are other recommendations of ours. Please consult your local pet shop about stocking a 3 gallon tank.
