Features & Benefits:
- Simple installation
- Easy to set up in different configurations
- Includes Anchor Joints, Stacking Joints, screws, and Composite Timbers
- 5-Year Warranty Against Manufacturing Defects
The connecting joints are made of high impact durable ABS plastic resin (100% recycled), and the timbers are made of a blend of wood fiber and UV-protected polypropylene (100% recycled). The timbers go a slightly lighter shade with age because of the wood fiber content.
They are attractive and durable, with an organic texture and color. Plus, unlike pressure-treated wood, there are no dangerous chemicals present in our timbers, so you can grow an organic garden.
The Raised Garden Bed Kit with Composite Timbers system lets you design and build a raised vegetable garden that is rugged, resistant to warping from winter frost, and won't rot from exposure to rain and moisture.
Each timber board is 1" x 6" and 44.5" long which creates a 4 foot span from joint to joint. Color is brown.
Garden assembly involves sliding the timber into the joint, and using the included zinc-plated steel screws to secure the timber in the joint. The Anchor Joints are simply pressed into the ground, and the Stacker Joints slide into the Anchor Joints from above. It is helpful to have a power drill to set the screws.

Questions about the Composite Raised Garden Bed - 4' x 8'

- I live in an area that I have ground Squirrels and gofers is there any protection on the bottom to keep these pest from coming through the bottom?
- Raised beds are open on the bottom. If you need to protect against burrowing pests, you can lay a piece of 1/2" galvanized mesh on the ground below your bed. For best results, cut the sheet 6" longer and wider than the bed, and bend the edges up 3" all around. Then staple the folded edges to the inside of the bed near the bottom.

- Do you recommend these be installed over a concrete slab such as a patio or part of a driveway?
- A raised bed can be assembled over a concrete surface but you will need to attend to drainage. If the concrete is coarse, like aggregate finish concrete popular on many decks, then water will drain below the bed sides. Smoother concrete surfaces may require that the sides be blocked up 1/4". Also, any drained water will have dirt residue and over time this will stain the concrete. You can remove the stain with a stiff broom of power wash from time to time. And be sure that the concrete drains away from the home. This is usually the case.

- This states that a4x8x12 bed is 125 us$. if i wanted to purchase another to make a 12x5 are these easily joined? What material is this made from ? an what is the materials life span estimated to be? Is there a spec sheet for the material? How are these anchored? Thank You <<<<Bill>>>>
- Hi Bill,
The 4 x 8 x 12" composite raised bed is $250. (The 4 x 6 x 6" model is $125.)
The boards come in 4' lengths so any addition you make must be in intervals of 4'.
The boards of made of a mix of polyester resin and wood flour. They are hollow with a center support inside. These boards are highly resistant to weather extremes and long lasting.
Here is a link to the boards with more information.
The anchor joints and stacking joints are used to connect the corners and add height to the bed.
Here is a link to the anchor joints, and you can click the Specifications tab for more information.

- Our school is considering buying the raised garden beds for science/environmental education. Which height should we choose and why that height?
Thank you! - For the composite raised garden beds we find that 12" high is the most popular height for gardeners. This height allows you to garden easily but also have a fairly sturdy bed. When you get higher than 12" you have to be a little bit more cautious about how rough you are with the beds.

- my area is a foundation in the back and one 4' side. 27' x 4' . How much do I purchase? Thanks.
- This depends on if you want the bed to be one level high (eg 5.5" tall) or two levels high (11" tall). Since the boards come in 4' lengths, your final bed will be 28' long unless you cut some of the boards shorter. To build a 4'x28'x5.5" bed, that will require 16 boards, plus the anchor joints.
Feel free to call us and we can work together to find the best solution. - Do you find this question helpful? Yes No

Last weekend my wife took one of our raised beds apart (we have three of these composite beds with the corner joints) and reconfigured it to be taller but not as long. She did not need my help! This is good, very good.
I think this is a very well designed product and lets people change their garden around without having to buy anything new.

ok for the weedeater

These beds are not cheap so I expected a good product.
The plastic wood boards are hollow so you have to be careful when using the shovel inside the bed. I think the shovel would break into the plastic boards if you struck them hard.
On the positive side, when I ran the weedeater to cut the grass in front of the beds, there is no scarring of the boards from the whip.
The beds look real nice too.

they look good and clean up nice

I bought two of these composite plastic raised beds for my condo and am happy with them. They went together easily and they look good.
At my condo, people are not fond of messy gardens. These are very tidy looking and what I like is that after digging and transplanting, you can just spray the beds with the hose to wash the dirt off the sides. They still look like new.
