From what I have heard the smaller prototypes are performing as expected, and they are now scaling up. Wind power for utilities is all about economy of size - bigger turbines. But I think this technology also has the potential to really change what is possible in places that would otherwise be marginal for wind power. If it cuts down on noise and operates efficiently at lower wind speeds, it can be used closer to human homes. A small homesteader version of the wind lends that doesn't need a big expensive tower could revolutionize home-scale wind power or micro-utilities.
