Having been affected by the hose pipe bans previously I stopped washing my car with
water and moved to a waterless method. Not only does this mean that the car
stays clean but I save water on the water meter!
I understad that in some coutries car owners are only allowed to wash their cars at designated points due to the chemicals that are washed into the drainage system.
Using a water free solution means that there is less going into the rain water system which can only be a good thin?
Just a thought, hope it helps
someone else:
Simon

i feel like all these companies are acting like they are trying to make cars more environmentally friendly, its all an act. someone needs to get serious and actually make a difference. people get 25 MPG on a hybrid and really that's the same as a regular car and the battery inside the hybrid hurts the environment more then the cars entire life... once you dispose of it. hopefully we never have to.

This article is good. Hope our Governments would 1 day realize and act to help save our planet. In my country alone...Thousands of outdated vehicles are still running on the streets leaving tons of pollutants but yet our government has not done anything.

Recent study shows that cars have been one of the top causes of pollution and this articles shows how we can help lessen the damage our cars can make and it'll be a big help conserving our planet. I still think electric cars should be use rather than gas cars.

Excellent comment Greg, thank you. I think we should look to ourselves for solutions, and what works will radiate outwards. Leadership from our leaders seems oddly missing.

I know its important to try and help in every way we can, and "every little bit helps", etc, but this is the problem -- it's only "little" "bits", it's not solving the problem. We could get everyone to drive a hybrid instead of a gas guzzler, and the main problem will still not be solved -- reliance on oil, and the carbon emissions from factories and the mass production that keeps our planet moving.

I pray our scientists can come up with some solutions before its too late (or is it already too late?), even with their *severe* lack of funding which is currently going to building bombs instead of literally saving the planet. Isn't it ironic? Blowing up the planet vs Saving the planet. Hmm.

The Ford Motor Company have also just announced a rooftop solar system option to US car buyers with their upcoming electric Ford Focus EV!

The initiative is being dubbed “Drive Green for Life” and involves mounting solar panels on a customer’s home. The panels won’t just charge the fully electric, zero emission Focus, but will actually help offset the cost of charging the car; a task most electric car owners need to do every night. Customers will pay for the subsidised system though – at an estimated $10,000 per installation.
