This is a great idea. It would be ideal to run it into a battery bank rather than be "on the spot power." However I wonder if the cost will offset the benefit of the power generated.

This is a very cool idea. Any added initiative to encourage exercise is always welcome. As a far as environmental impact every little bit helps. I wonder just how cost prohibitive in home exercise dynamos would be.

Actually this is a waste of time and greenwashing of the worst sort. 50W is NOTHING, to power your house you would need 100 bicycles running around the clock. Put some solar panels for christ's sake, humans are not very good dynamos…

We need to use every available opportunity to save energy and create clean energy. Reclaiming spent energy from the gym is an obvious place to look for this type of initiative. Home treadmills should be able to send power into the grid, bicycles should and will some day have recharging devices for small devices, even joggers should some day be able to reclaim and store their spent energy for recharging devices. I find this article hopeful, but am surprised it has taken so long for this kind of project. The technology is not new.
