Interesting, I hadn't heard this about the leek plant. We grow mullen for ear problems and have recently learned how effective the seldane poppy is for removing warts. This poppy plant grows like a weed, and you can snip any floral stem and squeeze out the bright orange juice for applying to warts.
We have so much yet to learn from nature!

Such an interesting article. I think nature provides the things we need, only we're definitely not aware of all of them. I have used the juice (sap) of house leek to cure earaches (squeeze a couple of drops into the ear). Have heard it's good for cuts and warts too.

When we lived in Papua New Guinea back in 1997-1999 it was amazing to learn about all of the medicinal plants. The rumor when we were leaving our village was that a road would soon be cut through the rainforest to connect the two major cities (Port Moresby & Lae). Not sure if the project was ever started/completed or not, but would be interested to find out where the villagers stand today…

I agree with you that we have lots more to learn about natural remedies from ancient cultures. Traditional Chinese Medicine, a lot of which are from plants, is now undergoing scientific trials against more "conventional" Western medicine for several diseases, including cancer. The results of these studies will be interesting.
