With global movement, travel, constant re-location, and ever increasing migration of people, the sense of belonging to a place is fading. What remain are nostalgic memories, not tangible realities that can be seen being destroyed. Yes, one's unique locality and culture provide one with a personal, palpable way to connect to nature, compared to the abstract 'concept' of global 'responsibility'. It's not a concept but a reality and not a responsibility but a necessity to survive through preservation.
People should always take the time to hug a tree, as it provides them with positive energies that are derived straight from the core of the Earth. However, BoBe has a point, and everyone should do whatever they can, myself included, to save our natural resources and not depend on technology alone to provide us with satisfaction in life.
