I've used soda & vinegar for cleaning for over 30 years. It's cheap, works well and I don't have to worry whether I've been had by the misinformation or lack of information on labels.
I buy soda in bulk (50 lb bag) at the feed store. I don't rely on the government to protect my interests, I rely on myself.

Don’t worry about figuring out what’s safe or not.
I buy soda in bulk (about 40 lb. bag) & vinegar. The soda lasts years. You could share it with friends or family too. That’s all I’ve used for 30 years for cleaning. I do buy soap for dishes and laundry.

Wow, that is truly chilling information. I assumed, like you stated above, that the Government was somehow monitoring the safety of items, especially those containing potentially hazardous chemicals, sold in stores. I'm not shocked to find most of these items are not as 'healthy' or 'safe' as the companies would want us to believe – but it is shocking to realize how much latitude they have when stretching the truth!
