The environment seems so huge! Problems such as global warming, greenhouse effect, acid rain, toxic waste, water and air pollution seem insurmountable from an individual perspective. Can we make a difference with our lone efforts? The answer is "yes".  

You are the solution.
Every consideration you give to resource use and environmental welfare is significant.
Just as every landfill is the sum total of a multitude of small, seemingly insignificant individual deposits, the global scale environmental solutions we need must come from all our small efforts, personal commitment and example.
Every "drop in the bucket" has a ripple effect.
Your children see your smallest effort and mirror your values. Friends and neighbors are influenced by your actions, be it as simple as switching to a reel lawn mower or riding a bike on those short hops to the video store.
 
Over time, governments will enact more legislation to help improve the health of our environment. Technology continues to develop solutions which contribute to global and personal welfare. Education spreads the word. But lasting improvements in our day to day lives, changes which nurture and enrich our natural world, will only come when we each acknowledge, through our individual lifestyle habits and consumer choices, that a healthy planet is the source of our well-being.
